The owners of Alder Mews have been in Sonoma for 30 years and
are happy to share their knowledge of the Valley with you. They are very willing to give you suggestions and directions, and help with arrangements. There is an abundance of information about the wine country, sites, restaurants and activities in the cottage, as well as coupons for free wine tastings. You may wish to lay back and relax or participate in some of the following activities:

A visitor to the Sonoma Valley has a choice of hundreds of wineries to visit, be they around Sonoma, itself, or Glen Ellen and the Valley of the Moon, Healdsburg and Alexander Valley or even the Napa Valley, only 20 minutes drive away.
Pack a gourmet picnic from the numerous specialty stores in Sonoma and experience the true beauty and charm of the wine country.

Beautiful hikes, walks and horse trails abound in the Valley of the Moon. We can help you discover some of these treasures. One can rent horses in Jack London State Park or ride through the vineyards with Wine Country Trail Rides.

Rent a bike for the day! Or bring your own. Bicycling among the vineyards and wineries is a lovely way to see the area. Mountain bikers will find challenging and picturesque trails in Annandel State Park, just a 30 minute drive away.

Sonoma has many festivities in the Plaza....4th of July, Vintage Festival, Salute to the Arts, The Ox Roast, Red and White Ball, Cinco de Mayo, and more.
 
If you are lucky to chose one of these weekends, you will get a special insight into the Sonoma experience. The yearly film festival and jazz festival centered around the plaza are also noteworthy events. The calendar of events is available through the Sonoma Visitors Bureau (707) 996-1090.

And don't forget the wonderful historical sites of Sonoma: The last California Mission, Vallejo's home and barracks, and many more points of interest in the fascinating development of Spanish and Mexican influence on our State.



Many visitors simply enjoy the superb shopping in the unique boutiques on the Plaza or the ambiance of the park and outdoor cafes.



If you are in the mood to drive for 45 minutes to an hour, you can be at the Sonoma Coast beaches, San Francisco, the Armstrong Redwoods, Healdsburg and the Alexander Valley or the Russian River Resorts. Saucelito and Tiburon, and the San Francisco& Angel Island ferries are only 40 minutes away.
